Under Armour Charged Rogue Review

Under Armour Charged Rogue

Openly saying…, compared to my previous experience with running shoes from Under Armour (specifically Under Armour Hovr Infinite), this new running model UA Charged Rogue is absolutely splendid. Are you searching for a lightweight, great looking shoe that perfect support? Then you should definitely keep reading forward. This shoe actually offers much more than that and behaves on the road as a real “fellow companion”.

Who am I as a tester?

I run mostly shorter to middle length distances. Mostly between 3 to 10 miles and I tested these shoes close to Tampa, around the Thonotosassa lake. On extremely flat terrain, but for 2 months and ran over more than 110 miles. So I tried them out quite a bit. Overall feeling  in the end? Excellency!!!

UA Charged Rogue, a running paradise…

Straight to the source of my amazement. These shoes have the Charged midsoles filled with two times higher density of responsive material. The midsole is thus better responsive compared to other Under Armour running shoes (for example Under Armour Hovr Infinite). From other brands, I would say that the shoe is quite comparable with cushioning to a one model from Asics, the Asics Gel-Venture 6. But of course this UA is for paved, city streets so that comparing it to a trail running shoes from Asics is not at the place here. Simply, cushioning feels great and for long distances that I tried it for (longest 12 miles), I didn’t feel my ankles or knee joints tired at all.

Under Armour Charged Rogue Review

I said that I liked it more than Under Armour Hovr Infinite. It is true in other aspects than cushioning as well. Under Armour Charged Rogue is way much lighter. While Infinite goes in men’s version easily over 10.5 oz, this model slightly weighs over 9 oz. That is some real noticeable difference. The overall lightness of Under Armour Charged Rogue is even more surprising because of the heel “locker”. I would expect it as in other shoes that it would be a source of additional weight but not really. The whole shoe is lightweight anyway.

Stabilizer as it should be

I wanted to test the shoe not only for the Under Armour brand that it carries but most of all because it was supposed to be one of the most supportive shoes on the market. I cannot really say whether it goes that far but it is a bit similar to my very old version of Adidas Cosmic 2 SL. I didn’t feel my arches in any moment of the runs. If it can be said about Under Armour Charged Rogue that it is comfortable? Yes, absolutely. No need to even ask.

Night fancy assistant

As I mentioned in the beginning, I tested the shoes when running around the Thonotosassa lake. And a really big part of the track goes on the main road. Because I run mostly during or after the sunset, I appreciated the boosted visibility of the upper. The shoe upper of UA Charged Rogue is made of reflective pieces so that if you combine it with some night clothing for runners, you stay safe from cars or any other motor vehicle for the whole time.  As for the overall design? I cannot say that it is something absolutely new that you cannot come across with other brands… That wouldn’t be true. But what is true is that it is decent. It is perfectly combining the intensely colourful pattern on the outsole with some lightly coloured upper.  So, unobtrusive but original. 🙂

So in the end…?

If I would buy Under Armour Charged Rogue again? Well, regarding the fact I could have barely found any negative aspect, it almost sounds to me as a rhetorical question. UA Armour Charged Rogue is a really high quality running model. At least, from this brand. Comparable to Adidas Ultraboost 20 or Nike Pegasus 36, for sure. Me, as a middle distance runner, I couldn’t complain. It offers perfect cushioning, some boosted visibility for night runners, support, simply very good model that I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
