ASICS GT 2000 8 Review

ASICS Men's GT-2000 8

Since its release in September 2019, Asics GT 2000 8 has become very popular. And no surprise because this shoe can boast with all the top technologies by Asics! This shoe is especially made to prepare you for long distances and help everyone who has some issues with overpronation. But not only that, it is a combination of many other aspects that we are gonna take a look in this short review below. 🙂

First of all, the upper. Asics perfectly knows how to balance the knitting. Not too thin, nor too thick. Most importantly, it is specially perforated in the forefoot. The perforation is more intense, so that sweat from your feet vaporises during the run intensively. On the other hand, the back and middle part of your feet is soft, hugging tightly the feet and placing them exactly where they should be. And it doesn’t slide inside. Moreover, also the Achilles tendon got a nice treatment. There is some pleasant textile filling in the heel which is not sharp and thus softly surrounds the heels. Unfortunately, the shoe is a bit narrower than its predecessor Asics GT 2000 7. So in case you decide for a purchase online, go for half a size up

Midsole is absolutely amazing. Thanks to Flytefoam midsole inserted in GT 2000 8, Asics came to be the real A-class product. Flytefoam replaced the older EVA technology and offered a model with longer lifetime period and that is especially resistant against shocks. Thus the shoe’s midsole doesn’t get wasted that fast and you can be sure that it will last for many runs. Next, the inner side of the shoe is filled with Duomax. That is a midsole layer that is harder and firmer than Flytefoam. It is there to help overpronators who tend to put a strong impact on the inner side of shoes and that would without this stability layer feel their arches in pain.

The outsole did not get a typical rubber outsole, but Ahar. Similar to Continental technology that you may find for example with Adidas Ultraboost 20 or Adidas Alphaboost, Ahar is very adhesive. It is great for extreme rainy conditions and holds great on a wet surface. We tested the shoe for rain showers and it had a better traction than most of the running shoes.

What is also quite interesting is the overall weight of the shoe. It is for my size 9 roughly around 10 oz. Which is not the worst. It is rather a faster shoe compared to other Asics shoes. As is Kayano for comfortable running, Nimbus for neutral runners, GT is from those three the faster model and overpronators as well.

Knit verison

In general, it is a really well made shoe which we appreciated in all aspects. Moreover, if you are considering purchasing something waterproof, this Asics GT 2000 8 has a gore-tex version. For lovers of uneasy terrain, pick up a trail version. High-quality product guaranteed.
