I found Adidas SolarGlide ST to be an absolutely amazing model of running shoes. It’s taken me a very long time to find such a comfortable model of running shoes… . No joke at all. Since putting these shoes on for the first time, I literally strongly regretted not having discovered them before. I truly fell in love with Adidas Solar Glide ST. I consider them to be one of the best models I have ever had a chance to try. I found them to be absolutely crazy for 3 reasons. I will describe them in a few lines now here:
Comfortable as no other shoes
This model of Adidas shoes is extremely padded. That’s what I noticed just by slipping in. Especially at the ankle and the tongue part. The padding is so plushy that barely would I find such a padded model of running shoes. Possibly, an alternative could be PUMA Women’s Smash WNS V2. But those are just casual for everyday wear to school or hanging around. Not athletic or long-distance walks. Just the inner padding of Pumas and insoles are similar to Adidas Solar Glide ST. Other than that, Adidas are 5 times or more higher quality shoes.
Solving bunion problems
I have generally very large legs and feet which is because of my genetics. As you may also see from the photos in this review, I have large thighs, calves and also, unfortunately, wide feet. Not only that, I also have developed halluxes (bunions) on both feet that make me feel uncomfortable when running in tiny, narrow shoes. For instance, I bought Asics Gel-Quantum 90 two years ago and that was exactly one of those kinds of shoes that I could not withstand. Also, a similar case was for me with Nike Pegasus 36.
The problem with those shoes for me was that both had a very narrow profile. And I could easily continue naming other narrow running shoes…Well, in the case of Adidas Solar Glide ST, Adidas created a whssole masterpiece. The shoe is wide enough, formed of a greatly flexible, high-quality elastic upper. So that it perfectly solves my problem with halluxes. While running, I don’t feel them and continue running smoothly over time.
Immense arch support and stability
It has a Stableframe, the structure proposed in such a way that holds your feet in a proper, stable position over the whole time of your run. Even though these shoes are wide enough they still provide lots of stability inside. That I found very unusual for most running shoes. Especially, when running shoes are wider, they lack that kind of stability and arch support but not in the case of Adidas Solar Glide ST. Simply, I found them to be perfectly balanced.
As for the support, it is secured by the (in my opinion) highest quality midsole layer – Adidas Ultraboost. That is a must have for every TOP quality Adidas model of running shoes. I cannot imagine anything better than that. Hundreds of Boost capsules strike back to your feet with each step that you push forward. The energy return is the best of the best. Close to Saucony shoes and far better than Nike in my opinion.
Continental outsole
The pattern is very basic as you may see from the photos. But why would that have to be complicated, right? 🙂 I have to admit that I haven’t had a chance to try Adidas Solar Glide ST in anything worse than what you may see in the photos of this review. No rainy days recently. I went just to the gym over the last few weeks and a few times to the park in our neighbourhood. Thus, I cannot claim that I would be somehow amazed by the famous Continental soles. I can confirm, though, that I had no problems with slipping on the treadmill or on the steep dry park roads.
Overall weight
I have the model in the women’s US size 7.5 (UK 6, EU 39.3) and the one shoe has 9.94 oz (282g). Not the lightest model but I got used to it super fast. That was no problem at all. It is a bit heavier model due to the midsole and outsole material but comparable to most of other Adidas Ultraboost running shoes. If I haven’t had Nike Pegasus 37 before, I would not even notice. So you don’t have to be afraid that this aspect would influence your performance.
Whole looks
I love it. Yes, I truly love the looks of Adidas Solar Glide ST. Not because of the colours but for the impression it makes. It looks really properly made. The white durable stitches on the sides are strong for touch, the upper made of air-permeable material is hard enough for touch but looks thin and somehow goes well with the three white stripes on the sides.
As you may see, I have the model in dark-blue, black & white colour. I know, nothing extremely awesome, but trust me, it looks truly properly made. The last point I liked is the 3D adidas logo moulded on the tongue. Tiny, unobtrusive but gives the shoe a real style.
To sum it up
Adidas Solar Glide ST is a perfect model of running shoes. There is absolutely no doubt about it. I have tried many other brands and nothing feels so great as this model of Adidas. I cannot compare it to for example Adidas Ultraboost. But with a peace of mind, I can say they are extremely good. If you are into long distances, have developed bunions and wide feet, they would suit you the best. In that case, they are absolutely worth the purchase.
