Nike Revolution 7 Review: Comfortable & Affordable Beginner Running Shoe

Nike Revolution 7 women

After such a great performance from Nike Revolution 6, when I heard of the cheaper option Nike Revolution 7, I had to give it a try. Since the show is relatively cheap at only $70, it quickly became a crowd favorite. However, does it live up to the hype? Here is my honest review.

My First Impressions of Nike Revolution 7

My shoes took a few days to be delivered, and so I was excited to unbox them. At first sight, I liked the appearance of the Nike Revolution 7 and thought they looked great. Just by holding them, I could tell that these are the kind of shoes I would normally use for casual wearing rather than running.

The Nike Revolution 7 felt light when held by the hand and even lighter on my feet when I laced them up. They were a perfect fit and very flexible. So, I went for an 8-mile run to test the shoes and see how well they would perform.

The performance of these shoes was quite impressive and more than expected for the price I got them. They were comfortable and lightweight, offering perfect performance for short-distance running. After running for a while, I could feel my feet get a bit sore than I expected although I still went the entire distance.

Quality of the Upper Material

The upper is made of breathable knit material. It comes with padded overlays around the ankle and heals which makes it mold nicely to my feet. The heel also locked me in perfectly while the toe box offers tons of room for comfort.

The shoes are soft to the touch. You can see the puff added to the heels on the outside. But the show feels so comfortable around Achilles on the inside. As I slide the shoes on. I could feel the satisfying squeezes, guiding my foot into place.

I went for size 6.5, which was a perfect fit for me. However, I did not like the lacing as it did not give my ankle the support I usually go for. The gusseted tongue seemed to work well at first until it separated from the tongue, which made the tongue roll in and left the top of the foot exposed.

Overview of the Sole Unit

I was generally impressed by the sole unit. The Nike Revolution 7 comes with many small little rubber lugs that provide traction in both dry and wet conditions. I enjoyed the amount of control I had in both conditions, giving me a great touch on the ground and easy lift-off. They also performed quite decently when going uphill and downhill.

The foam midsole comprises a general EVA compound that is impressively light for this type of shoe. It makes it flexible and soft to the touch, with a smoother ride than the Nike Revolution 6. I also liked the extra room in the forefoot that makes the toes feel comfortable and not squashed.

Nike Revolution 7 Vs. Nike Revolution 6

Nike Revolution 7 and Nike Revolution 6 are both budget-friendly shoes, overall very comparable. However, the Revolution 7 is an upgrade of the Revolution 6, offering a slightly more durable and comfortable outsole. It also offers a bit more support and cushioning in the heel part, which makes it better for running than Revolution 6. Although not a premium shoe, similar to Revolution 6, the Revolution 7 is a perfect choice for a beginner or light running.

Nike Revolution 7 Vs. Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39

Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 39 offers both comfort and style. It is a well-designed trainer that delivers both fashion and great performance when running. Compared to Revolution 7, Air Zoom Pegasus 39 is ideal for long-distance running on all kinds of terrain. The Zoom Air Units at the forefront and heel offer enhanced cushioning and shock absorption that the Revolution 7 lacks. So the Pegasus offers you a perfect shoe for running while the Revolution 7 is ideal for everyday casual wear.

Is Nike Revolution 7 the Right Shoe for You?

The Nike Revolution 7 is a great choice for budget-conscious runners and beginners who are looking for a versatile and reliable trainer. Since it is relatively comfortable, you can use the show for walking, running, or at the gym. It also accommodates individuals with wider feet and offers a firmer fit for running.

On the flip side, I would not recommend it for people who prefer a softer feel underfoot. The Nike Revolution 7 tends or run quite firm and does not provide that soft feel. The Nike WInflow 10 would be a better choice if a comfortable ride is what you are looking for.

Nike Revolution 7 is also not the best option for forefoot and midfoot strikers because it lacks sufficient cushioning in those areas. I would recommend Nike in-Season TR 9 Review instead because it has better cushioning, breathability, and energy return.

My Verdict: Is Nike Revolution 7 Good for Running

The Nike Revolution 7 is a great, budget-friendly shoe, especially for beginner runners and those looking to maximize their value. From my experience, I found the shoe more useful as everyday wear, even though it is comfortable for both running and walking. There were some notable drawbacks, such as breathability and cushioning, but the overall performance was impressive.
