A Quick Summary of the Pegasus Trail 3
The Pegasus Trail 3 is a medium-weight trail running shoe designed for low- to moderate-impact activities, like trail running and fitness walking. It gets in most men’s versions sizes over 10.5 oz (300 grams). So not the lightest model, actually. On the other hand, this updated version of the most recent Pegasus Trail model offers improved cushioning, a more streamlined design, better traction, and improved water resistance. This model is designed with an emphasis on comfort, flexibility, and traction. It’s also lightweight enough for daily training, and it offers a nice combination of cushioning and stability features. Although it’s designed to be a trail running shoe, it’s versatile enough to work well for other activities, too.
Flywire Lacing System
This shoe has one of the most unique lacing systems in the industry. It uses a completely non-traditional lacing system that works well for a variety of foot shapes and sizes. The laces wrap around the top of the foot and ends with a very simple knot. The cinching of the laces helps lock the foot down in place while keeping it comfortable.
Updated Upper and Waterproofing
The upper on this updated version of the Pegasus Trail is a bit more streamlined than previous models, but it still offers the same great fit and support that made the Pegasus Trail 2 such a popular shoe. It has a fairly minimal design, but it still manages to provide plenty of support and stability. This version of the shoe also features an improved waterproofing layer Gore-Tex, so you can wear these in wet conditions without worrying about damaging the shoe. Thus, the model is quite similar to the well-famous series of Adidas Terrext Agravic or to the one for better paved roads – ASICS GT-1000 11 GTX.
Responsive Midsole and Outsole
The midsole has been slightly redesigned for this new version of the Nike Pegasus Trail 3, with a focus on improving the comfort, responsiveness, and durability of the shoe. It uses a blend of React foam for impact protection in high-impact areas, as well as Cushlon for lightweight cushioning. The outsole on this shoe also has a few new additions that provide better traction and durability on various types of trail surfaces. This version of the Nike Pegasus Trail 3 has a more aggressive lug pattern, with deeper, more durable grooves.
Final Words
All in all, we loved the Nike Pegasus Trail 3. Even though it is a heavier model, it is a great trail running shoe for daily training in the forest, on unpaved rocky roads and all-around use. The React foam is of higher quality and durability. It has many of the same great qualities that made the Trail 2 such a popular model, but it’s also been updated with better materials and more modern features that put it on with the best shoes in its class. We would say this is defeinitely a nice running shoe that’s worthy of your attention and consideration.
