It has been more than a hundred years since Brooks Sports, Inc. was founded in 1914.Yet it’s still there in the market even now. While being one of the best running shoes manufacturer of the world and while delivering to more than 60 countries of the world, it wasn’t always running shoes that formed its way to success.

Before the First World War., Brooks started as a small factory for ballet slippers and shoes for bathing in the US, in Philadelphia. Later on, it became famous for the production of one of the first models of roller skates (in 1929). Over the years, it was extending its sports apparel portfolio to other different kinds of shoes categories. Such as baseball, football and for basketball players.

But running shoes by Brooks came much later, in 1972. Since the Olympics in Munich in 1972, Brooks’s started specialising in running more and more. Since Millenium, it has been just running shoes that the company devoted its time and technology to. It has overtaken the running-shoes standard material by applying EVA midsole first and developed its own midsole cushioning BioMoGo in 2007.

But it wasn’t always easy for Brooks. In 2001, it was on the edge of bankruptcy. After the CEO Jim Weber made cuts to its low-cost shoe models and focused with engineers on developing the highest performance running shoes, the situation recuperated. Thus, Brooks has been serving the best running shoes and belongs to the real elite until now.
