Lacoste Women’s Hydez Sneaker

In most cases, I make reviews of sport running shoes that are determined just for running itself. I mean Nike, Adidas, UA, Hoka,… Barely have I ever tried to look at other types of shoes and write about them. The reason behind it lays in the fact, that I don’t have many of those urban-style shoes. Lacoste Hydez is a bit of an exception. From the moment I saw them in the shop, I have fallen in loved with their look so much that I decided to buy them first and share some of my thoughts about them with you in the second place! For lightweight training?

Well, I will not even mention here any of the running features as the fact that Lacost Hydez is not a good option for running at all. I would not even recommend it for easy workout or casual activities. The outsoles are too hard, too firm, there is no arch support and the responsiveness is almost at zero. Simply Lacost Hydez is not a shoe for sport activity under any circumstances. But that is absolutely fine. I have not even expected that it would be when purchaising the model.

What I loved the most

But what I am quite sure, though, is that you would enjoy Lacoste Hydez’s sleek appearance combined with an elegant white. The white color does not remind me of beige color. It is actually shiny white, reflecting lots of light. When walking around in these shoes the first month and a half, I felt lots of eyes on me because of the shoes. After two months, now, I have a feeling they have started to look a bit older, darker but still better than average urban-style soes.

It wouldn’t be Lacoste brand if it were not for the green crocodile. At Hydez you may find it on the external part of the shoe, right in the middle. It is small but you cannot overlook it. Everyone will easily recognize that you got these fancy shoes for walking around. Next to the crocodile, there are three small dots, holes for improved breathability. I don’t know how well that actually works. Normally, you will not find that at running shoes. Other urban-style shoes have it, though (Under Armour, New Balance are great example…). I liked that in the case of Lacost Hydez, the dots are just those three and not all over the upper. In my opinion that would look a bit old-fashioned.

The brand name Lacoste is placed on the tongue of the shoe, on the insoles and on the midsole from the side. On the heel, there is one small tiny crocodile as well. Designed in black & white. The upper is made as a combination of leather (60 %) and of synthetics (40%). That is also the reason why the shoes feel quite firm, not as lightweight as other sneakers. We tested the shoe and it weights around 11.4 oz (est. 325 grams) in US size 8.5. In comparison to other sneakers, that is quite a bit heavier than usual. Never mind, though… I got used to it very easily and loved them anyway.

Overall feeling

I have to admit that the first weeks were not easy at all. I have felt the hell part scratching into my feet with each step that I made forward. I knew I would break into them in the end, but bloody hell… it took me quite some time. So in the case you expect them to be soft and nice for walking, be prepared that this is not the case! Lacoste Hydez sneakers have been very hard for me. Also, they run quite narrow in the toebox. I explicitly asked the shop assistant how others perceive these shoes. The answer was that “people mostly feel them quite large and wide”. Opposite was the truth.

Go a whole one size up. The rubber sides are not easy to break into. Even now, after 2 months, sometimes I have felt my hallux on the left foot when sitting or walking. So the truth is, this Lacost Hydez is definitely not one of the easy models as for comfort. It is true, that me feet are quite wide but I did not expect them to be so narrow… For this part a thumb down.

If you are that happy person that has narrow feet, I guess that most likely it would be ok. But if you have extremely wide feet, then consider the sizing and definitely do not buy Lacoste Hydez sneakers on the internet. Try them out in person.

Are the shoes good in the end?

For casual wear, for its awesome look, different color variations, Lacost Hydez are awesome. They are extremely fancy-looking sneakers. One of the most stylish I have ever worn and tested. The great thing is that you can buy them both in men the same as in women version. What sucks is the breaking in part and its overal comfort.

They feel stiff, firm, without enough arch support. But as the fact they are not for running or other sport activities, it does not matte that much in the end. You will probably break into them the same as I did. Plus they are breathable enough for walking and hanging around. As an every-day walking shoe, I cannot say a bad word about these shoes in the end. I would go for them in the future again.
